Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and school closures, the 2020 Essay Competition offered for the past 13 years in Fiji, has unfortunately been postponed with consent from NZ High Commission and Ministry of Education Fiji.
The Minister of Education of Fiji has cancelled all extracurricular activities in schools following reopening after many weeks of Covid-19 lockdown to allow students to complete the required schoolwork.
All assemblies, sports and extracurricular activities stand cancelled for the remainder of 2020.
The competition will be re-examined in early Term 1 of the 2021 school year.
NZ High Commissioner Mr. Jonathan Curr has advised that school principals have been notified of the current situation.
The Association may continue to send books earmarked for this year to some needy schools if possible.
